Quick Tip: Use Google hack to find Google Earth KML files

Find only Google Earth KML files by using the well known "filetype:" Google hack. There are around 5290 KML files indexed by Google at the time of writing this. Since KMZ files are binary it doesn't seem worth searching for those at the moment.

KMZ files are binary only in the sense that they're zipped KML files. You can read the contents by simply opening them with WinZip.

What I mean by that is that Google cannot currently make sense of the contents of a KMZ file because it is binary. Whereas since KML is a text format, Google will actually search the files contents. For example:
